My name is Sylvia and I live in Washington state. I always loved making art when I was young, but I didn't prioritize it as much in my early 20's when I was studying biology. Then in 2018, while living in Arizona, I took several oil painting courses at the Sedona Art Center and was drawn into this new medium. In 2019, living in central Oregon, I took my paints to Smith Rock State Park and tried painting the rocks. In 2020 I was working in Alaska and brought a small travel watercolor set. I am very partial to watercolor and like creating spontaneity and working with the elements by painting outside. The environment I'm in has always influenced the art I create and feels truer to myself. I'm always exploring and trying new styles and techniques.
Painting is something that keeps me grounded, lets me connect with others and creates a memory tied to that specific place and time. I'm endlessly inspired by nature and like painting on location whenever I can.
